Once upon a time on a summer hot day, a crow became very thirsty. It flew to and fro in search of water. But it could not find water anywhere. It, however, continued its search and found a jar at some distance. At once it flew to the jar to drink water. But it found that there was a little water at the bottom () of the jar. It tried to enter its beak at the bottom. But it could by no means reach its beak there. It tried to overturn () the jar but failed. But it did not lose heart. Suddenly it saw some stones at a little distence from the jar. It picked up the stones one by one and dropped (P) them into the jar. When it had dropped a large number of stones, the water in the jar rose high enough for him to reach it. Then the crow quenched (f) its thirst drinking water to its heart's content.
